6:20 PM Y
the day started out with a heavy downpour all over Singapore. oh and i have to admit i was a lil disheartened and fearful cos the rain seems to get heavier by the seconds and it does not show signs of stopping anytime soon. now u see why i was fearful.
thank god the skies became clearer at about 2pm and off we went to collect the 184 bikes from the bicycle shop. the uncle made the agonizing task of collection much easier for us by staffing enough people on that day to help us load all the bicycles up the lorry! how cool is that? thank you uncle. by that gesture of goodwill, i will pass ur contact to esther lee (who will be organizing night cycling 2008) and u will be hall 8's perpetual supplier of bikes for night cycling! muahahaha~
to move all the 184 bikes back to hall, the lorries have to make 3 trips to and fro just so that all the bikes are transported to hall. thank u glennis, daxiong, kerry, alvin, terence and eric for going the extra mile, just to make sure everyone gets their bike on time.
the skies turned dark (again!) and it started to drizzle at about 7pm when the event is due to start at 8pm. but by the stroke of luck, we managed to start the registration @ 8pm sharp : )
thank u wan fen and jason for helping to mend the registration booth! it's not easy, especially when u have hundred people crowding around u, waiting to get their bikes. it's really not easy and i have to thank u peeps for making the registration process so fast and efficient!
not forgetting the 4 cgls (Eldine, WaiChong, Small Alan & Vincent) who did a great job in gathering all their respective clan and disseminating all information to them. not only that, they also had to double up as a safety cyclist to ensure the overall safety of their clan. sincerest thanks to the cgls, thank you. this list will not be complete without thanking Jian Yao, JingXi, Boon Beng and ZhiJian who are being assigned the boring job of being the 'last man' for each clan. heh.
my heartfelt thanks to alvin, terence and eric (a graduated senior who came back to help!) for driving the lorries. driving the lorry is tough and having to drive the lorry for close to 12 hours is even tougher. thank u for ensuring that the safety marshalls are deployed on time, the welfare gets to the stopover point on time, the spoilt bicycles are replaced in the quickest time and the list just goes on. all these would not be possible without all your valuable help and commitment. thank u.
oreo, lemon puffs, sugar biscuits, blackcurrant, lemonade and ice water. thank u ah zhen for taking care of all the welfare of the cyclists. and ah zhen even has to double up as a safety marshall so that the safety of the cyclists will not be compromised. thank u ah zhen! and sorry to make ya miss ya guitar class my dear gerl!
the 'i love NC' (which stands for i love night cycling for the benefit of those who still don't know the meaning!) singlet is proudly brought to u by my creative director, shiming!
the cyclists will probably reach east coast park on monday is i were the one leading the way. heh. and luckily i rope in charles and big alan to help in being the lead cyclist. their commitment to this event is really worth mentioning. thank u for all ur help and i have to say that u guys are very good with roads! despite going for 2 recees, i still can't remember anything about the route. nothing at all!
wan fen, glennis, chua, yanting, jason, shujun, eunice, danny and hongzhen are my safety marshalls for the event and they have a heroic task of ensuring the safety of all the cyclists at all the traffic junctions and zebra crossings. 'this year's night cycling is super safe' was what a senior commented and i thank all of u for this.
how can i forget to mention my co-chair (Kerry) and treasurer (esther lee) who did everything they could to make this event a great success. even if it means going the extra mile to ensure that everything is planned for. it's a pleasure working with the both of u and i really enjoyed the process of planning with all the fun and laughter added in. the fun experience makes everything worthwhile. thank u kerry and esther.
i hope i didn't miss out anyone in this entry cos this entry is specially dedicated to the night cycling main committee. thank u for making a difference and being part of it. the event is a success all because of u peeps. thank you thank you thank you.
p/s: thank u ah seng for selflessly agreeing to be the photographer for the night! it's nice to see u again after having graduated for so long! thank you seng.
now, i think my thank u list is complete.
With Heartfelt Thanks, to the committee.
