Shell & MEeeE! OMG. This is truly UNBELIEVABLE! Oh my tian~
Marilyn (HR Manager) says that they are interested in RECRUITING ME FOR ACTUAL EMPLOYMENT! And they are inviting me down to their recruitment day at the end of the year to recruit meeee! OMG. I am soooo blessed! Really. They say its okie even if I dont join them for internship, they are still interested in (recruiting) meee! In my heart I was like "HUH!!!!" I couldn't believe myself! They are moving my profile and resume to the EMPLOYMENT FOLDER! They are considering me for employment! Now I am feeling ultra guilty for not choosing them for internship, but then again, I might send in an application to do an internship with Shell at the end of the year! : )
Thanks Yanzi for sharing my joy! And for believing in me! : )
They make my day! I am a lucky gerl.
And now, I am sooo motivated to study hard. I will do well this sem.

What was I thinking!!!! Heh. I must be dreaming today! Why didnt I realize something was wrong when everyone kept giggling when they saw me? heh!
I wore one pink slipper, together with one yellow scandal to lecture today. My goodness. And I had to pretend to walk as though nothing is wrong, when something is OBVIOUSLY very wrong! One look and ppl will know! They TRIED very hard to not laugh in front of me. heh.
And I saw someone really disgusting today! (Eunice you shud know!)
Is there space for about 6 people in other halls?

Alright, the final decision is this, I am doing my internship at Ernst & Young eventually. heh. No, not because Shell is not good or anything, but I just decide to choose the easy way out. hehe.
Cant wait to work, I cant stand the fact that exams are just round the corner and I am still here, attempting to finish up my reports and presentations. What is wrong with this semester? It's becoming unbearable. At times like this, I wish I am back in SMU. Yes, i wanna escape from all the projects and presentations cos it's causing me sooo much stress. : ( And the worst thing is, you keep hearing about ppl studying for exams and you wonder how they can afford the time to study even when all the projects and reports are suffocating you. OMG. I need to manage my time better.
Okie, I am going to read my readings now. I am worried. I must do well this sem. I WILL.
P/s: Mei mei, you are really an angel today. When you speak nicely and dont show any attitude. loves.

Oh yes, it's the final round of interview with the line manager to discuss the details of the commercial project with me this coming wednesday. I am still half hearted as to choosing Shell but people around me kept telling me it's the right thing to do, even my prof! Shall be doing some research before the interview so that I do not appear too ignorant of their operations. heh.
Going to the Big 4 was my poly dream back then, and even up till now. So giving up their internship is a tough decision for me to make, even when Shell is clearly a better option. And they did mention that if my performance exceeds their expectations, they might offer me a permanent job after my internship. That is IF i do well la. heh.
Alright, I have to start doing something.

heh.
Recently, people come asking me, "eh, summer you move out of hall already ah? so long never see you."
I am not inactive, but i am definitely not as active as before. I still attend all the events and meetings faithfully and do all I have to do as a vice president, because that is what I need to do. my responsibility. I think after all that had happened, and without the presence of all my close friends (Eunice, jun, alan), hall life is pretty much monotonous. And you really don know who to trust, and who not to trust, because hall life is not as simple as it seems. It encompasses too many things, some far beyond your imagination.
I am sorry if I made hall seems like a very scary place to live in. heh. But I have survived 2 years here, just 1 more year to go and I am out of this place, ever. I am so glad I met my closest friends here, and with them around, it just keeps me going.
Loves.

I remembered how I used to wake up early each sunday morning just to watch 'Super Sunday' on channel 8 i think. heh. And when I missed the show, I would somehow feel that my sunday is completely ruined.
No more 'Super Sunday' anymore. No wonder my sunday doesnt feel as great anymore.

I had a really sweet dream last night. The mere thought of it just brings a smile to my face. How silly. But the dream felt so real, very real. But well, a dream is a dream, it can NEVER be reality.
what are you doing on a saturday?

Ernst & Young released the list of shortlisted candidates after the interview, and YAY I was one of the lucky ones to be selected by them. Now the tough question is this, which one do I choose? Shell or EY?
Shell gave me 3 options, one in the Finance Department, another in the HR department and the last option is what I chose. It is a commercial project, requiring me to research on the solvency and the feasibility of their business in Asia, as well as its future prospects. That's not all! After the 2 months of intensive research, I have to generate a report and come up with a presentation of my findings TO THE MANAGEMENT! So challenging right? That was why I chose this option! So different from the usual debit and credit, assets and liabilities, balance sheet and income statement. But then again, I wonder if I will be able to deliver exactly what they want, hence the fear, apprehension and uncertainty. Dilemma.
So now, how?
What will you choose?

We have been consistently meeting up each week to discuss our strategies to beat the rest of the 7 teams .. BUT ..
WHY ARE WE CONSISTENTLY THE LAST?!??? heh. Cant stand it, we are so CONSISTENT! I think we are quite retarded in playing strategy game! We cant seem to win the competition.
Okie, this is just random. : )

heh. Skipped AB311 with the intention (and hope) to study for my AA202 quiz tomorrow, and I ended up doing anything but studying. I am hopeless!
Went IT Fair yesterday and went home with a new thumbdrive (1GB) and an external hard disk (80GB)! All mine for just $140! heh. Lost all my thumbdrive(s) in the NBS Free Access Lab and I thought it is time to invest in another one since it's selling at an incredibly low price.
I need to study study study study study. I hope chanting helps. Somebody please motivate me! : (
And my cute lil mom is calling to check on me every other minute to be 101% sure that I am eating regular meals, drinking sufficient water and not sleeping late. So when she calls me in the wee hours of the night, (even though I am wide awake!) I will not answer her calls! heh. I am so clever! That's how much my mom loves me! : )
Okie people, it's time to hit the books! VAlue chain + Strategic cost management + EVA + Transfer pricing + many many more! Here I come! zzzzzZzzz.

Of Interviews, donuts and great company!
Let's just say that today's MAS interview is a TOTAL disaster la. Braving the interview alone with 3 non-smiling ladies is not at all fun. And just to add on, for the entire interview, they were practically GLARING at you, this is no joke man. This is what I call STRESS INTERVIEW and I am the lamb waiting to be slaughtered. They literally KILLED meee with their interview questions (and their stern and no joke face!).
Asking me questions about the types of government (financial) policies can I improve on, what are my opinions on the governments' policies, whether I agree or do not agree with the policies and more about policies, government and investments. Oh my tian! I think they meant the monetary and fiscal policies in place, but then again I don't think I did a good job in attempting all the (difficult) questions.
Looking at the working environment (and more importantly, the people) I don't think I wanna work in such a rigid and "overly-challenging" workplace, where everyone means business. STRESS is the word.
After the nerve wrecking stress interview, I thought I should reward myself with some yummylicious and mouth watering DONUTS! WheEEe! And to my utter AMAZEMENT, I actually queued 2.5 hours for 18 donuts. YES, 2.5 HOURS FOR 18 DONUTS! The queue was moving at snail's pace (even a snail might be faster) and at some point in time, I was tempted to leave the queue and forget about my donuts. Well, let's treat this as a test of one's patience and eventually I SURVIVED! At the end of the day, I had a dozen donuts and 6 for my dear friend Lynda! heh. Happy happy. But I just wasted about 2 hours of my life queuing for DONUTS! heh. I think it is hilarious because the onlookers were so impressed with (us!) the long queue and when they saw that we are actually queuing for DONUTS, you should see the unbelievable look on their face! Priceless. heh.
So much about donuts, I am munching on one DOUBLE CHOCOLATE donut right now and the filling just keeps oozing out, heavenly indulgence. donuts make people happy : )
Just to digress a lil, I'm one of the six nbs students selected for an overseas attachment but I rejected this golden opportunity due to various concerns and uncertainty. Yeah all is not lost, I'm pretty sure there is a better plan for me : )
Went kfc-ing with Lynda & Kurt and ate until my skirt almost BURST. heh. It's always nice to be in the company of nice friends and no matter what you do (or eat), there's always this warm fuzzy feeling inside of you.
Alright, I am going back to my donuts now! *drools
Good night friends.

Oh yes, I am down with a high fever and was admitted to the A&E in the middle of the night. And till now, my headache doesnt seem to go away. Argh! I think this is the eventual result of irregular meals coupled with late nights and the lack of water. : ( But I hate resting, I think I am wasting my time by lying on the bed, and doing nothing. Gosh, I cant let my life tick by like that.
My AA202 presentation is finally over. And I thank everyone for the great experience, its really nice doing project with a good team. : ) I hope we do well for the report *cross fingers & toes
MAS interview this friday. Not feeling as jittery anymore. : )
Okie, my head hurts like hell. Going to bed.
Good night world.

After the EY interview today, I realized interviews aren't that scary afterall : )
I am happy with my performance today during the EY interview. I guess alot depends on the interviewers, and fortunately, my interviewers today were 101% FRIENDLY and NICE! heh. Apparently, they were quite impressed with my resume (heh! yes, they told me!) and unlike normal interviews, they did not ask me intimidating questions like why I chose EY or why I chose tax over audit, but instead, they just genuinely wanted to know more about me! They asked me everything from my secondary school to why I did not choose to go JC (when my L1R5 is 9) and more about my SMU exchange and about my hall. They also did jokingly try to test if I knew GST was going to increase from 5% to 7% (and of cos I know la!). In addition, I also know corporate tax rates decrease from 20% to 18%! (I did my homework before the interview!) heh.
Yeah, now I have to keep my fingers crossed. Wish me luck!
Another good news, I got shortlisted for another interview. This time with MAS (Monetary Authority of Singapore)! How great is that, I don't even recall applying for it! heh! More interviews coming up! Good luck to me!
Alright, so much abt interviews. Have to get back to work! : )
