It must be the off-peak period in my department because no one has ANYTHING for me to do, not even trivial things like photocopying, scanning or faxing. Nothing at all! I am paid to drink their milo, write my log book and basically do nothing at all.
However, yesterday, my senior informed me of a test @ 'bout 3pm when the test is scheduled @ 4.30pm! Yes, it's a quiz for the whole GST department! Heh. and it feels weird to see seniors and managers alike mugging prior to the test! everyone is fully equipped with their GST Act (their bible!) and all the relevant legislation! Poor me, I am the only intern in the department and I am also required to take the test together with all my seniors and managers! stressful i would say! I merely read through the notes about zero-rating telecommunication services and man, it's entirely new for me! we NEVER for once learn this in school! I took some time to understand the concepts and come up with my own set of notes cos the GST act is so not-user-friendly!
@ 4.30pm, the whole atmosphere in the department is so intense! tension fills the air as we walked to the 'exam venue' heh. the agenda for the meeting is to firstly, explain the draft of the advance ruling system and following which is the test followed by a case study! i find this totally new and enriching! at the end of the case study, the partner commented that everyone did well for the test and "our intern got 8 out of 10!" heh. boy, i am so proud of myself. i am so glad the last minute study helps. i love attending their meetings and learning how the GST system works and the case study really helps to address various GST implications in the corporate world. Anyway the issue is about TOGC, transfer of business as a going concern. I am interested to know more about TOGC, will most probably start reading the GST Act and see what I am derive out of it : )
Next week will be an eventful week with 2 GST workshops schedules on Tuesday and Wednesday. This workshop is held for clients to address the various GST issues and of cause this comes with a fee! the entire 2 day workshops cost full hundred bucks but it will be FOC for me! heh. Also, the GST partners will be meeting me for lunch next week! I personally think the partners are so talented and I aspire to be like them.

Last friday marks the start of the GREAT SINGAPORE SALE! How great! and i have already started conquering city hall with a new found friend i have made in ernst and young! i have made so many new friends in EY and there are 2 friends which i always have lunch and hang out with! : ) really nice peeps!
i really enjoy all these outings with friends! just today, i met eunice at city hall and we had a simple dinner and did a lil catching up. it was really nice to hear from her once again as it's been quite some time since the gang met up already. but i really gotta thank her for hearing me out, thanks my dear gerl. we will meet up again soon k? meanwhile please do take care of yourself hor! : )
maybe it's the off-peak season. because my seniors have nothing for me to do for the past few days?!?!? OMG! time literally crawls when one has nothing to do! and the worst thing is this - you have to PRETEND to be BUSY when you have absolutely nothing to do! Totally unbearable la! spare me and please give me something to do : (
tomorrow i am meeting lynda!!!! i have so many things to update her about my life, and i am sure she has many things to tell me too!! tomorrow will be a great day i'm sure!
and thursday is PUBLIC HOLIDAY! so nice right? up till now, i have 2 hours of fire drill, 1/2 hr of family day every last friday of the month, one public holiday and free sandwiches on every last day of the month! Muahahahha~ life's good!

i am sooo busy! ever since PA started, i have been very very busy!
i love what i am doing now, and the people in the GST department makes working far more enjoyable! thumbs up for their "People First" strategy, no wonder they are one of the best employers around, they truly deserve to be crowned the title.
last week was intensive training sessions making up of numerous one-to-one training sessions to coach me on all the GST related matters. i really benefited a lot from all the one-to-one trainings, where i can clear all my doubts and queries with all my seniors and i have learnt so much about GST. i never for once thought that GST can be so complex. and i really enjoy what i am doing now heh.
today officially marks the first day of my work, and my senior brought me to a client's place for a return review! I got to see source documents relating to their GST matters and similar to audit, i did some vouching of the source documents, referencing and some checks to test the samples. my senior was very helpful and she is very concerned for my learning, she makes every effort to make sure i understand the objective to doing all that i am doing and clears all my queries! thank god for seniors! : )
today, i also got a chance to attend the GST division's meeting and see for myself the dynamics of a meeting. there'll be more to come, cos there will be more meetings for GST matters next week! and i also got a chance to attend a 2 day workshop in the month of june, on the GST rate increase to 7% regarding the transitional period from june to july. I am looking forward to attending the workshop and learning more about it!
i will be going down to the client's place again tomorrow with my senior : ) i am beginning to like GST, something which is less stressful than audit, but yet at the same time, far more interesting and challenging. i am waiting for an opportunity to do MES audit! i have heard so much about it (during training) and i cant wait to really get down to doing the actual audit! : )
i think another senior has another assignment for me to work on, right after i am done with this client. i really enjoy my work.
my buddy - Liwen has gone on a study leave to study for her ACCA, meanwhile i will be buddy-less for 3 weeks until she comes back : ( but then again, all the seniors here are as nice as my buddy so that's not so bad afterall heh.
not forgetting my mentor - Jessie. she is really approachable and helpful. In EY, you can really ask anyone anything, and they will be so ever-ready to help you, at least for my department.

the past few nights were spent jogging with my mom, even i cant believe i am actually JOGGING WITH MY MOM. heh. i guess being in a traditional + Chinese speaking family, i am not brought up to show my love and affections to my family so openly, and never in my life will i imagine myself jogging with my mommy, not even in my dreams. and so, this must be a breakthrough? : ) nonetheless, i am happy that jogging kinda brings the both of us closer together, which is a very good start.
the first day of my attachment is orientation day, and this orientation is gonna last for a few days i guess. heh. orientation reminds me of round island/round sentosa/fright night and the likes. i hope they don make us do stupid things in our formal business attire, i really cant imagine running around CBD area in formal attire and shouting hokkien cheer! heh!!
and i just got to know that my attachment is for 8 weeks, meaning i still have 2 more weeks before school really starts! 2 weeks for me to rot before another semester begins. : ) maybe it's the aftermath of a new room, i am feeling so ever-ready, erm, for anything! now i cant wait for PA to start immediately!

i am back, more nua than ever. the long holiday is making me freaking lazy and i am spending my days reading and basically .. doing nothing at all.
attachment is gonna start in less than a week, and it's kinda scary isn't it? stepping into foreign grounds, meeting new people, and getting a feel of what it's like to be in the corporate world.
and oh by the way, my room is oh sooo beautiful! black.white.red. but until my sister's room is done, my house still looks like a battlefield. heh.
alright, i am going back to my books.

here i am again, doing anything but painting my room. heh. i really need the discipline to just sit down and concentrate on painting my walls but seriously, i cant paint for nuts. this has got to be more difficult than exams.
i am spending so much money of late, buying this and that. all in the name of my new room. argh. as of now, my house looks like a battle field and i hope i can just stop blogging at this moment and get on with my painting. but.i.am.lazy. heh.
why is the whole world flocking to taiwan for holidays? is there great taiwan sale or something?

finally i am stepping out of my house, to meet eunice and the gang. it's been so long. going to bugis for a steamboat session heh.
and i hereby declare that i have been painting my room for the past one week. one week! goodness gracious me. i need to like brush and paint faster, this pace is too slow for my liking.
just a side note, my sis bought a 19-inch samusung lcd screen which costs 349 bucks. in my opinion, this screen is way too big but i have to say that the design is really sleek and elegant. well well, it's her money. heh.
just realized PA is gonna start real soon. i better start meeting my friends. ah zi, next week ok? : )

been very busy the past few days. spending all of my time painting my room and this time it is a black and white theme. my sis bought me a white bed at ikea to complement my room. heh. i am so sure it's gonna turn out very pretty.
i just need MORE patience. my whole house looks like a rubbish dump now because all my things are temporarily placed outside the living room and now my living room looks like crap. heh. i never knew painting can be soooo tough. phew.
went out with ah zi the other day and it was great. she bought herself a pair of pants and basically we were just chilling and chatting most of the time. heh.
oh man. i better start painting else this is gonna take forever. happy holidays!
