12:52 AM Y
I dont know what got into me yesterday cos i cant get to sleep. I tried, but i couldnt. Was flipping and tossing around in bed every other minute when i finally decide to read my storybook, silently wishing that by doing so i will be hypnotised to sleep. LOL~ I did it. I woke up at 6am today to get ready for work. It's been so long since i last woke up at 6am for anything. I guess the last time i woke up at 6am in the morning is during primary school cos assembly starts promptly at 7.25am and being a prefect, i couldnt risk being late. MUAHAH~ :) Waking up at 6am can be quite a torture, especially when you are the only one making the move, with the rest of your family members still snoring away. They are so EVIL!!! I dont care i am gonna wake all of them up at 6am tomorrow, just because i had wake up at 6am and they don't!! MUAHAH~ I was told to report for work at 8.30am today but by 8.10am, i was already waiting outside the company while the staff are slowly crawling in. MediaCorp Publishing is a relatively large company i would say, the largest amonsgt all the companies i have worked for. I hope my working experience there will enhance my resume a little MUAHAHA~ At about 8.20am, i was warmly welcomed and ushered by a Malay lady who politely waved me in and smile each time she speaks to me. I feel so at ease, at least she dont make me feel alienated. After some transferring here and there, i finally got to the finance department, comprising of a finance manager, an accountant and a few other accounts assistants. It's a rather flat hierarchy with just about 7-8 people. The people you will be working with goes hand in hand with the level of job satisfaction isn't it? So, i am happy with ALL the peeps in the finance department. No complains at all! Cos i am blessed with helpful and friendly colleagues whom, i believe, will make my working experience at MediaCorp a fruitful and happy one! I am one lucky gal cos i am always given a very good learning ground and nice employers! Woohoo~ :) Being a new user to their computer system, i had to remember all the nitty gritty details and the procedures in a sequential format. But, Sky came to my rescue as he photocopied his notes for me so i dont hafta copy again! So niceeeeee... :) Lunch break is my greatest fear. Who am i gonna eat with? What if nobody wants to eat with me? Gosh, i cant imagine eating alone! When the clock strikes 12.30pm, they asked me for lunch!! Together with the finance manager! So cool. We mingled and interacted like friends, and they asked me lots of questions about ntu, where i stay and so forth. Wow, i thought. It seems like i had known them for so long when in fact, today is my first day of work. I am doing some invoicing and accounts receivables, mundane and boring, cos i have to repeatedly do the same stuff for like a thousand times? LOL~ And LiNa, the person in charge of me, got me a copy of iweekly and 8days for free! Weehee~ Free magazines for 2 months! This job is so cool, i like i like i like! :) The best part is this, i don't have to wear formal to the office!! I cant believe it when LiNa told me i could actually wear jeans and some t shirt. I was like, "huh, really ah?" Cos previously, it was an unspoken language to wear a lil more formal like long sleeve shirt and a matching bottom. So i can continue wearing my jeans and nice t shirts to work! So long as i am productive, who should care what i wear? Unless researchers can prove that wearing long sleeve shirts make one more productive, else i dont see why i cant wear my jeans to work! MUAHAH~ I am begining to find joy in working. The working environment and culture here is very different i would say, and i operate well in such conditions. *smilez* :) I am a lucky gal. *winks* :)
